NDA ELIGIBILITY 2024.

The National Defence Academy (NDA) is one of the leading institutes in India that trains cadets to be officers in the Indian Armed Forces. The NDA entrance exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) twice a year to select candidates for admission to the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of the NDA.  

To be eligible for the NDA exam, a candidate must fulfill the following criteria:

Age limit – Candidates must be between the ages of 16.5 to 19 years at the time of admission to NDA. 

Nationality – Only male unmarried Indian citizens can apply for NDA. 

Marital status – Applicants must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the NDA course. Marriage is not allowed during the training period.

Education – Candidates must have passed a 10+2 level of education or its equivalent from a recognized board/university. Those appearing for their 10+2 level exams can also apply.

Physical standards – Applicants must be physically fit according to the prescribed physical standards by the commission. 

Eyesight– Candidates should have normal vision. However, minor exceptions are allowed with respect to vision standards.

Apart from academic eligibility, candidates also need to qualify for certain benchmark physical standards such as height, weight, and medical fitness. Only those candidates who meet all the eligibility criteria can apply for NDA. Relaxations to criteria may apply in some cases.

NDA AGE LIMIT 2024.

To be eligible for this examination, candidates must meet the following criteria:

1. Only candidates born between 02nd July 2005 and 1st July 2008 are eligible.
2. The date of birth accepted by the Commission is the one recorded in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate, or in a certificate recognized by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation, or in an extract from a Register of Matriculates maintained by a University. These documents must be certified by the proper authority of the University. Birth extracts from Municipal Corporation, horoscopes, affidavits, service records, or other similar documents will not be accepted.
3. These certificates only need to be submitted when the result of the written part of the examination is declared. No other proof of age is required.
4. Please note that the date of birth recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate at the time of submitting your application will be accepted by the Commission. Requests to change the date of birth will not be considered or granted thereafter.
5. If there is an inadvertent/ unintentional/typographical error in indicating the date of birth in the Online Application Form, candidates may request rectification along with supporting documents, as specified in the Examination Rules. This request must be made no later than the date of the National Defence Services & Naval Academy (I) Examination, 2024, which is 21.04.2024. The communication should include the candidate’s name, year of the examination, registration ID (RID), roll number (if received), complete postal address, and a valid and active email ID.
6. Candidates are advised to be careful while entering their date of birth in the online application form. Any variation found during verification with the Matriculation or equivalent Examination certificate will result in disciplinary action by the Commission.
7. It is important to note that no additions, deletions, or changes are allowed in the online application form for the NDA & NA Examination once it is submitted, after the closure of the window for modification of the application.

NDA ELIGIBILITY 2024 MARITAL STATUS.

The National Defence Academy (NDA) has strict marital status requirements for candidates appearing for the NDA exam. Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible to apply for the NDA entrance exam. 

Candidates should be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course. Marrying during the course or getting married after the release of the merit list could lead to the cancellation of candidature.

The marital status requirements are mandated as per the eligibility criteria set by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). As the NDA is a premier training institute for cadets aspiring to join the Armed Forces, the strict marital criteria ensure complete focus and dedication of cadets towards military training without familial distractions.

Married candidates or candidates who get married anytime during the selection process or training period will be disqualified. Any candidate found to have provided false information regarding their marital status could face strict disciplinary action.

Therefore, it is advisable for aspiring candidates to fulfill the marital status criteria before applying to the NDA exam. candidates should ensure that they are unmarried when appearing for the NDA exam, during the selection process, and for the entire duration of training at the academy. Getting married anytime before commissioning from the NDA will lead to disqualification.

NDA EDUCATION QUALIFICATION 2024.

To be eligible for the NDA exam in 2024, candidates must possess the following educational qualifications:

1. Army Wing: Candidates should have passed the 12th class (10+2 pattern) examination or its equivalent conducted by a State Education Board or University.
2. Air Force and Naval Wings, and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy: Candidates should have passed the 12th class (10+2 pattern) examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, conducted by a State Education Board or University.
3. Candidates appearing in the 12th class examination under the 10+2 pattern or equivalent are also eligible to apply for the examination.
4. Candidates who qualify for the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview but are unable to produce the original Matriculation/10+2 or equivalent certificate at that time, should submit self-attested photocopies to the Directorate General of Recruiting, Army HQ or Naval Headquarters, by 24th December 2024. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of their candidature.
5. Candidates who have already submitted their original Matriculation and 10+2 pass or equivalent certificates to the SSB authorities during the interview are not required to submit them again to the respective Army or Naval headquarters. Certificates issued by the principals of institutions are also acceptable in cases where Boards/Universities have not yet issued certificates. Photocopies or certified true copies of such certificates will not be accepted.
6. In exceptional cases, the Commission may consider a candidate who doesn’t possess the prescribed qualifications as educationally qualified if they possess qualifications that, in the opinion of the Commission, justify their admission to the examination.

Note:

1. Candidates appearing in the 11th class examination are not eligible for this examination.
2. Candidates who are allowed to appear in the UPSC Examination without having qualified for the 12th class or equivalent examination should note that this is a special concession, but they must submit proof of passing the 12th class or equivalent examination by the prescribed date (i.e., 24th December 2024). No requests for extending this date will be entertained due to late conduct of Board/University examinations or delayed declaration of results.
3. Candidates debarred by the Ministry of Defence from holding any type of Commission in the Defence Services are not eligible for admission to the examination. If admitted, their candidature will be canceled.
4. Candidates who have previously failed CPSS/PABT are now eligible for the Air Force in Ground Duty branches if they indicate their willingness in the Online Application Form provided on the Commission’s website.

So in summary, to be eligible for NDA 2024, candidates or who have passed 12th standard or equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics for Air Force and Naval wings. The Army wing requires a 12th pass in any stream. 

 NDA NATIONALITY 2024.

To be eligible for NDA, candidates must be:

-Citizens of India 

– Subjects of Nepal  

– Subjects of Bhutan

– Tibetan refugees who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India

– Persons of Indian origin who have migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

Candidates must produce a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India if they belong to any of the above categories. The nationality criteria for NDA is strictly defined and only applicants meeting the above requirements will be considered eligible. The nationality of the candidate must align with the requirements at the time of joining the training and not just at the time of applying or appearing for the exam.

Physical Requirements For NDA

• Height: Minimum 157 cm.

NDA Physical Criteria For Army (Female)

• Height: Minimum 152 cm.
• Weight: Proportionate to height and age.
• Chest: Expansion should not be less than 2.5 cm.
• Leg Length: The minimum leg length is 99 cm, and the maximum is 120 cm.

NDA Physical Criteria For Navy Officers (Male And Female)

• Height: Minimum 157 cm.
• Weight: Proportionate to height and age.
• Chest: Expansion should not be less than 5 cm.

NDA Physical Criteria For Air Force Officers (Male)

• Height: Minimum 162.5 cm.
• Weight: Proportionate to height and age.
• Chest: Expansion should not be less than 5 cm.
• Leg Length: The minimum leg length is 99 cm, and the maximum is 120 cm.

NDA Physical Criteria For Air Force (Female)

• Height: Minimum 152 cm.
• Weight: Proportionate to height and age.
• Chest: Expansion should not be less than 2.5 cm.

NDA Physical Test 2023 – Visual Standards (Army & Navy)

 NDA APPLICATION PROCESS 2024.

The application process for NDA 2024 is entirely online. Candidates need to follow the steps below to submit their application:

– Visit the official website of UPSC at upsc.gov.in or joinindianarmy.nic.in. 

– Click on the link for “Apply Online” under the Examination Notice section for the NDA/NA Exam.

– You will be directed to a registration page. Complete the registration process by filling in details like your name, email ID, mobile number, etc.

– A registration ID and password will be generated. Make a note of these credentials.

– Log in using your Registration ID and password.

– The online application form will appear on your screen. Fill in all the required details carefully.

– Upload scanned images of your photograph and signature as per the specified dimensions. 

– An application fee of Rs. 100/- is applicable for general category male candidates. It can be paid online through credit/debit card, net banking or challan.

– Take a printout of the completed application form for future reference. 

– The application process must be completed before the last date specified in the exam notification. Late applications are liable to be rejected.

NDA EXAM PATTERN 2024.

The NDA exam consists of two papers:

Paper I – Mathematics

This paper tests the mathematical abilities of the candidates. It contains 120 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 1.5 marks. The total mark for this paper is 300. The exam duration is 2.5 hours.

Paper II – General Ability Test 

This paper evaluates the general knowledge and aptitude of the candidates. It is divided into two parts:

Part A – English: This section contains 50 objective-type questions to test English language skills. 

Part B – General Knowledge: This section has 150 multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Freedom Movement, etc. 

The total marks for Paper II is 600 as each question carries 4 marks. The time duration for Paper II is 2.5 hours.

Both papers are held in one day in two sessions – Paper I from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and Paper II from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Calculators, slide rules, mobiles, or any electronic gadgets are not allowed in the exam hall.
